Médica pode contar para minha mãe que não sou mais virgem?
Garota diz que tem 15 anos e vai ser levada à ginecologista pela primeira vez
A recent video featuring health professional Jairo Bouer sheds light on a crucial topic for adolescents: privacy during gynecological examinations. Responding to a 15-year-old girl's concern about her first visit and fear of her sexual history being disclosed to her mother, Bouer clarified the principles of medical confidentiality. 'If you ask for confidentiality from the doctor, even at 15 years old, the doctor will respect the medical secrecy, the patient's secrecy,' Bouer explained. He emphasized that personal information, including sexual activity, is protected, provided the minor demonstrates maturity and responsibility in managing their sexual life. Bouer detailed the typical consultation process: 'Generally, in this first gynecological consultation, there is a conversation between the gynecologist, the mother, and the daughter for a few minutes to understand why you are there, what your objectives are, what your concerns are.' However, he added, 'at the moment of the exam... you can ask for privacy, or the doctor generally realizes that this moment is a more intimate, more private moment.' In such cases, the mother typically waits in the waiting room, with the doctor and an assistant present, to ensure the examination can be performed comfortably and privately. The health expert underscored the importance of these visits, especially for sexually active individuals. 'It is very important that you start a follow-up with the gynecologist, especially because you already have an active sexual life, even without your mother knowing,' Bouer advised, promoting proactive health management among young people.
