Massive Clothing Theft at Swiss Shopping Center: Police Close Case, Company Appeals
A significant clothing theft occurred at the Shoppi Tivoli shopping center in Spreitenbach, Switzerland, in August 2024. Approximately 4,400 clothing items, valued at nearly CHF 938,000, were stolen from a store's warehouse. The theft went unnoticed until a stocktake at the end of 2024 revealed the missing items. The police opened an investigation in early September 2024. However, due to a lack of evidence and the automatic deletion of security footage after 48 hours, the case was closed. The affected company is contesting the decision, stating that the ease of access to the warehouse suggests an inside job. The company's representative commented, "The lack of security measures allowed for this significant loss, and we believe a more thorough investigation is warranted." The police report indicates that numerous employees and customers had access to the warehouse. The investigation is ongoing, and the company's appeal is pending.
