South China Sea Dispute to Dominate Shangri-La Dialogue
The Shangri-La Dialogue, held annually in Singapore, is a prominent Asian security summit. This year's meeting, commencing May 30th, is anticipated to center on escalating US-China trade conflicts and ongoing South China Sea disputes. Professor Madya Jian Chong from the National University of Singapore, a leading analyst, commented, "At the top of the agenda will probably be South China Sea issues." He further emphasized the overarching influence of US-China relations on regional tensions and uncertainty. The dialogue, hosted by Singapore, runs until June 1st, beginning with an address by French President Emmanuel Macron. Since its inception in 2002, the Shangri-La Dialogue has served as a crucial platform for open and neutral discussions on security and defense initiatives in the Asia-Pacific region.
