Hungry Elephant's Convenience Store Raid in Thailand
A wild elephant from Khao Yai National Park created quite a scene when it strolled into a convenience store in Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, and helped itself to some snacks. Footage shows the large animal calmly selecting several packages of sweet rice crackers, a sandwich, and bananas before rangers arrived. "This is the first time Plai has entered a shop," said a ranger from the nearby forest, adding that Plai is known to roam the area but has previously only trespassed into homes. The estimated damage was 800 baht (approximately 103 MYR). The incident is a reminder of the challenges of human-wildlife coexistence in areas where wild animals and people live in close proximity.
