Malaysia Delays E-Invoicing: Relief for Small Businesses
Malaysia Postpones E-Invoicing Rollout for Small Businesses Kuala Lumpur, June 6, 2025 – The Malaysian Inland Revenue Board (LHDN) announced a postponement of its e-invoicing system implementation for businesses. The delay, effective July 1st, 2026, targets taxpayers with annual revenue under RM5 million. This follows concerns raised by businesses, particularly micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), about the challenges of immediate adoption. "The government is committed to supporting our MSMEs," said an LHDN spokesperson, adding that the six-month grace period allows for a smoother transition. The next phase will include businesses with annual revenue between RM5 million and RM25 million. The LHDN emphasized that the postponement does not negate the eventual requirement for all businesses to use e-invoicing by January 1st, 2027.
