ASEAN-China Agricultural Trade Booms Under RCEP
ASEAN's agricultural trade with China flourishes, driven by efficient logistics and preferential tariffs. For eight consecutive years, ASEAN has held the position of China's largest trading partner for agricultural products. This robust trade relationship is further highlighted by the import of bird's nests from Kuala Lumpur to Xiamen, China, where they undergo processing before distribution. The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) has identified these bird's nests as a popular import. Meanwhile, the export of fresh fruits from Yunnan, China, to other ASEAN countries is facilitated by a well-established cold chain logistics system. This system ensures the quality and freshness of products like grapes, lemons, apples, and dates throughout their journey. The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) agreement plays a crucial role in boosting this trade, offering preferential tariffs that make ASEAN products more competitive in the Chinese market. The seamless flow of agricultural products between ASEAN and China demonstrates a mutually beneficial economic partnership, contributing to the prosperity of both regions. This successful collaboration showcases the potential for even greater economic growth in the future.
