Brutal Robbery Leaves Jewelry Store Owner with Fractured Skull, $500,000 in Gold Stolen
A brazen robbery at a Chermside jewelry store left the owner with a fractured skull and $500,000 in gold missing. The incident, captured on chilling CCTV footage, shows four masked men smashing display cases with crowbars. Bijaya Sunar, the store owner, was struck multiple times in the head. His wife, Samita Subarnkar Sunar, described the scene in a heartbreaking interview: "I couldn't do anything. I was so shocked when I saw him in the shop all covered with blood. I was so hopeless." Police are investigating possible links to a similar robbery at another Nepalese jewelry store in Lutwyche last month. The stolen items are estimated at half a million dollars. Despite his injuries, Mr. Sunar has since woken up and is currently in intensive care. Police are searching for a stolen gray Honda CRV used as a getaway car.
