Chicago, IL A recent incident aboard a Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) bus has sparked outrage after a passenger accused a bus driver of closing a door on their hand and driving away. The event, captured on video, shows a Chicago Police officer intervening as passengers confront the driver. According to the passenger, who uploaded the video, they arrived at the bus stop, and two women boarded. As the passenger followed, the driver allegedly "shut the doors on my left hand and proceeded to drive away with my hand in the door, absolute lunatic!!!" The video shows a tense exchange inside the bus. A male passenger is heard saying, "I'm worried about her. I'm just a serious..." The filmer responds, "Thank you, thank you, because he's giggling. If I lost my hand, I don't think you'd be laughing." Another passenger adds, "My hand was inside, dude, and you took off." The bus driver, visible in the video, appears to be laughing at one point, which further inflamed the situation. Passengers can be heard advising the filmer to report the driver and check the bus cameras. One commenter on the video, claiming to be a former CTA employee, stated, "Call that 800 number..report the driver, get you a lawyer. They not supposed to drive off while you’re running for a bus. It’s in the rule book." Another commenter shared a similar experience, saying, "this has happened to my daughter as well. A lot of drivers don't pay attention." The incident raises concerns about passenger safety and the conduct of public transportation operators. Authorities have not yet released a statement regarding the event.
