Boravak na Balkanu za mnoge strance zna da bude pravi kulturološk šok – i to ne samo zbog hrane, muzike i mentaliteta. Jedna Britanka, koja trenutno …
British traveler Abby, part of the duo 'Abby & Gaz ✈️ Travel Content,' recently shared her amusing observations about housing peculiarities encountered during her stays in the Balkans, including Belgrade, Serbia, and Zagreb, Croatia. Among the surprising elements, Abby noted the widespread provision of house slippers in rental accommodations. 'Every single house has them, but they have no other personal items out,' she remarked, finding it a curious custom. Another point of confusion arose with window blinds. Initially struggling to operate them, Abby discovered a unique pull-down mechanism common in the region, a stark contrast to typical British blinds. 'It's not obvious when you've never used that blind before,' she explained, recalling having to contact her Airbnb host for instructions. Perhaps the most perplexing observation for Abby was the standard design of showers. She highlighted that showerheads are rarely fixed to the wall, requiring users to hold them. 'How are you guys showering? Please tell me because we have to like rinse our bodies, turn it off, lather ourselves up, wash ourselves off,' she questioned, expressing her bewilderment at the lack of a fixed fixture. Despite the initial bewilderment, Abby and Gaz have since grown accustomed to these local housing norms, sharing their humorous take on cultural differences with their audience.
