
Cat Smuggles Drugs into Costa Rican Prison: 'Narco-Michi' Makes Unlikely Arrest
Costa Rican authorities reported the detention of a cat that was used to smuggle drugs into the Pococí prison. The unusual incident occurred on May 8, 2025, when officers of the Penitentiary Police discovered a cat carrying two packages with drugs. One package contained 235 grams of marijuana, and the other – 37 grams of crack cocaine. The cat, which was named 'Narco-Michi', was found in one of the prison's fortresses. A spokesperson from the Ministry of Justice and Peace stated, "This case is unprecedented, demonstrating the creativity of drug traffickers and the vigilance of our officers."
