Chilling Footage: Newly Released Video Captures Sound of Titan Sub Implosion
The implosion of the Titan submersible during its expedition to the Titanic wreck in June 2023 remains a tragic event. A newly released video, obtained by ABC7 Chicago from the US Coast Guard, provides chilling insight into the final moments. The footage, recorded aboard the Polar Prince, shows Wendy Rush and Gary Foss, part of the Titan's communications team, monitoring data. "A sound heard at the 24-second mark, later correlated with the loss of communications and tracking, is believed to be the sound of the Titan’s implosion reaching the surface of the ocean," a USCG statement explains. The implosion, occurring about 90 minutes into the dive, claimed the lives of all five aboard. This visual record adds a significant layer to the understanding of the catastrophic event and serves as a somber reminder of the risks involved in deep-sea exploration.
