Chicago Officer's Wife Sentenced in Husband's Death: Family Seeks Justice
A former Chicago police officer's wife, Jacqueline Villasenor, was sentenced to over six years in prison for the involuntary manslaughter of her husband, German Villasenor. The incident occurred in November 2021, while both were off-duty officers at their home. Villasenor pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement. Pastor Julie Contreras, representing the victim's family, stated, "There are not a 100% in agreement with it, but they respect the decision that the judge made today." The victim's mother, Latitia Gonzalez, expressed her desire for closure in a victim impact statement. Villasenor's attorney, Tim Grace, described the situation as "a really tragic case" involving a husband and wife in trauma. A protection order was issued preventing Villasenor from contacting her in-laws. Despite the six-year sentence, due to time served and sentencing guidelines, Villasenor will likely serve only seven days. The case underscores the tragic consequences of domestic violence and the complexities of justice within the context of law enforcement families.
