Undocumented Immigrant Framed in Threat Against Trump: Man Confesses
A Milwaukee man, Demetrius Scott, has been charged with framing Ramon Morales-Reyes, an undocumented immigrant, for allegedly threatening former President Donald Trump. Morales-Reyes's immigration hearing was scheduled for Wednesday in Chicago. According to the investigation by Milwaukee police, Scott wrote and sent a threatening letter to President Trump in Morales-Reyes's name. Scott confessed during an interview with investigators. "Everything you did was recorded," Judge Barry Phillips stated in court, referring to Scott's actions. The video footage shows the letter, mugshots of both Scott and Morales-Reyes, and a portion of the court hearing. Morales-Reyes's attorney hopes Scott's confession will help his client's case. The Department of Homeland Security Secretary and other Trump allies have praised Morales-Reyes's arrest, despite the revelation of the framing. Morales-Reyes remains in custody.
