Twenty-one individuals required hospitalization. The CDC issued a public health alert urging consumers to check their eggs. The recalled eggs were sold under various brand names, including Clover Farms, Sunnyside, and Marketside, and were available at major retailers such as Safeway, FoodMaxx, Lucky, Smart & Final, and Ralphs. The eggs have plant codes P65662 or CA53330 and sell-by dates ranging from March 4th to June 19th. "The recall is a serious matter," stated a CDC spokesperson. "We urge anyone who may have purchased these eggs to check the plant code and sell-by date and discard them immediately if they match the recall information." Consumers are advised to thoroughly wash their hands after handling eggs and to cook eggs to an internal temperature of 160°F to prevent Salmonella infection. The CDC continues to investigate the outbreak and will provide updates as they become available.
