Urgent Recall: Popular Swabs Contaminated with Fungi
A New Jersey company, Church & Dwight, has issued a voluntary recall of three of its products: Zicam cold remedy nasal swabs, Zicam nasal all clear swabs, and Orajel baby teething swabs. The recall is due to the possibility of fungal contamination, which could lead to serious, even life-threatening, blood infections. "The swabs may be contaminated with fungi," stated a Church & Dwight spokesperson. While no illnesses have been reported so far, the company urges consumers to immediately stop using the affected products and either discard them or return them to the point of purchase for a full refund. The FDA is working with Church & Dwight to ensure the safety of consumers. This recall serves as a reminder of the importance of checking product labels and reporting any concerns about product safety to the appropriate authorities.
