QUEENS, NY – A bizarre incident involving the theft of a swan from a Queens park has led to the arrest of three suspects, thanks to viral video footage and community efforts. The incident, which occurred on Saturday night, saw a group of individuals removing a swan from Frank Charles Memorial Park in Howard Beach and placing it into a car. Stephanie Santiago, a local resident, captured the unusual event on her cell phone, showing a young man running with the large bird before it was stuffed into a vehicle. The video also depicted four males inside the car laughing as they drove away. Upon witnessing the footage, PJ Marcel, a local community organizer, shared the video on his popular Facebook group page, "Howard Beach Dads," and subsequently on his public page. Less than 24 hours later, the suspects were spotted approximately two miles away at Forest Park. Frank Kelly, another resident, took a picture of the same blue Prius seen in the initial video and identified what appeared to be the same suspects. This information, along with the original video, was forwarded to US Parks Police through Marcel's wife. Marcel rushed to Forest Park and recorded the arrests of three of the four male suspects. Police have confirmed that the fourth suspect was later located. The swift resolution of the case underscores the power of community vigilance and social media in aiding law enforcement.
