Manslaughter Charges Filed After Fatal Jet Ski Accident Kills Air Force Cadet Candidate
A tragic accident occurred on Lake Grapevine, Texas, on Sunday night, claiming the life of 18-year-old Ava Moore, a promising Air Force Academy candidate. Moore was kayaking when she was struck by a jet ski, driven at a high rate of speed, according to Captain Joseph Quintero of the Texas Game Wardens. The driver, Daikerlyn Gonzalez Gonzalez, 21, and passenger, Michel Guerrero Peroso, fled the scene. Gonzalez was apprehended and charged with manslaughter. A witness described the chaotic scene after the accident, stating, "Once she came out of the water, I just had them lay her down and kind of started helping." Despite the efforts of bystanders, Moore could not be saved. The suspects, both from Venezuela, were apprehended at the border and subsequently released into the U.S. before being charged. This incident underscores the importance of water safety and responsible jet ski operation.
