LA Curfew Imposed After Widespread Looting and Vandalism
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass announced a curfew for downtown Los Angeles on Tuesday night, June 11, 2025, starting at 8 p.m. local time. The decision follows a night of widespread vandalism and looting that affected 23 businesses. "Many businesses have now been affected by our vandals," Bass stated in a press conference. The curfew will be in effect until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12th, and covers a one square mile area in the city center. Hundreds of officers from police and sheriff departments across the region are working to maintain order. The mayor stated that individuals who violate the curfew will be prosecuted. The city is assessing the damage and considering the continuation of the curfew in the coming days.
