Spain's PAU Exams: New Format Creates Anxiety Among Students
Spain's University Entrance Exams Undergo Changes, Students Express Concerns Seville, Spain – The highly anticipated PAU (Prueba de Acceso a la Universidad), formerly known as Selectividad, university entrance exams are underway in Spain. This year's exams, taking place from June 3rd to 5th, mark a significant shift from the more flexible testing methods adopted during the pandemic. The changes have left many students feeling anxious. "The new format is more challenging," says one student interviewed in the ABC de Sevilla report. "It's more difficult than before, and the increased emphasis on spelling is worrying." Another student adds, "It changes the whole organization, and it doesn't seem fair compared to students from other years." The updated PAU features a more unified model across Spain, with the notable exception of the Canary Islands and Catalonia, which will hold their exams at a later date. The changes include the elimination of the A and B models, with each subject now having a single exam version. A significant portion (20-25%) of the questions are mandatory. Over 51,000 students in Andalusia alone are taking the exams. The added pressure of these changes is creating a heightened sense of anxiety among students. Despite the concerns, the video ends on a hopeful note, with some students expressing confidence in their preparation.
