Game Over: Global Cybercrime Operation Nets Millions
International authorities have launched a major cybercrime operation, codenamed "Game Over." The operation resulted in the shutdown of over 300 websites and the seizure of more than 3 million euros in cryptocurrency. This coordinated effort involved law enforcement agencies from several countries, including those in Europe and North America. The operation targeted a network distributing malicious software, leading to the identification of over 30 suspects, with 20 facing criminal charges. A spokesperson from Europol stated, "This is the largest operation of its kind ever conducted against botnets involved in distributing ransomware." The success of "Game Over" underscores the growing need for international cooperation in combating global cyber threats.
