Smooth Hajj Pilgrimage: Increased Capacity Reduces Congestion in Mecca
Mecca, Saudi Arabia – The annual Hajj pilgrimage is underway, and this year's event is marked by significant improvements in crowd management. On the first day of Tashriq, pilgrims smoothly performed the stoning of the Jamarat, a ritual where millions of people throw stones at symbolic pillars. "The increased capacity has significantly reduced congestion," reports Al Arabiya correspondent, highlighting the positive impact of infrastructure upgrades. This year's capacity increase allows more than 300,000 pilgrims to pass through the Jamarat area per hour, ensuring a safer and more efficient pilgrimage. The video also shows the immense crowds performing the Ifadha circumambulation around the Kaaba, Islam's holiest site. The farewell circumambulation, a final ritual before pilgrims depart Mecca, was also shown to be well-managed. This year's Hajj demonstrates the Saudi Arabian government's commitment to improving infrastructure and ensuring a safe and organized pilgrimage for millions of Muslims from around the world.
