‘She can’t afford any of this’: NYC woman goes in Nordstrom dressing room. Then…
A shopper at an NYC Nordstrom store says she won't return after overhearing workers talking about her. She couldn't believe what they said.
A recent incident at the Nordstrom flagship store on 57th Street in New York City has sparked discussion about customer service and retail etiquette. On September 6, 2025, at approximately 2 PM, a customer, who wishes to remain anonymous, reported a deeply upsetting experience involving a sales associate. The customer claims that while trying on several pairs of jeans in the denim section, the associate, identified as 'Mads or Mags' and described as having a shaved head with a crescent moon tattoo, allegedly spoke negatively about her to coworkers, implying she could not afford the merchandise. The customer, who was within earshot in the dressing room, stated she felt "Pretty Woman'd" and was left feeling "shaking, nervous, and anxious." She had intended to purchase multiple items, with an estimated total value of $1500. "I actually wanted to buy these clothes," she stated, emphasizing that she was shopping in sections like Rag & Bone and Free People, which were within her budget. The customer expressed that the incident has made her unwilling to return to her local Nordstrom store, which is only a few blocks from her home. Nordstrom has not yet issued a public statement regarding the alleged incident.
