Budapest, Hungary – Szentkirályi Alexandra, a Fidesz politician, has publicly criticized a proposal allegedly put forward by Budapest Mayor Karácsony Gergely, Vitézy Dávid, and the Kutyapárt (Dog Party) to halt public transport in the capital on August 20th. August 20th marks Hungary's State Foundation Day, a national holiday typically drawing hundreds of thousands of residents and tourists to Budapest for celebrations. Alexandra described the alleged proposal as 'political terrorism' and 'blackmail,' claiming its intent is to disrupt the holiday for a vast number of people. She linked this initiative to what she termed the current city leadership's financial difficulties, citing a 50 billion Forint deficit and the acquisition of the Rákosrendező site. She asserted that the leadership is unwilling to pay mandatory contributions, including solidarity contributions, and is failing to plan a legally compliant budget.
