Teen Wolf Stars Share Grueling Werewolf Transformations: "It Does Something to Your Brain!"
Monte-Carlo, June 22, 2025 The stars of the hit series "Teen Wolf" recently opened up about the intensive and often surreal experience of transforming into their iconic werewolf characters. In an exclusive interview, actors Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Tyler Hoechlin, and Charlie Carver detailed the hours spent in the makeup chair to achieve their on-screen appearances. Tyler Posey, who played Scott McCall, recounted the lengthy process: "By the end of like the two and a half hours, you're just transformed into this beast." He added that seeing the transformation happen in the mirror was both fun and a "little surreal." Holland Roden, known for her role as Lydia Martin, expressed immense pride in her co-stars, acknowledging the significant time they dedicated to makeup. "The amount of hours that you guys had to sit on a regular basis, eight months out of the year, was intense! And you guys did it like gangbusters," she stated. Tyler Hoechlin, who portrayed Derek Hale, echoed the sentiment, emphasizing the impact of practical effects. "It was very surreal. It's one thing when you see a finished product on screen and it's CGI and things like that that are altering your face, but to actually look in the mirror and see something so different was incredible," he explained. He believes the practical effects were a "big piece of the show" and contributed significantly to its success. Charlie Carver, who played Ethan Steiner, described the psychological effect of the transformation. "It's, it's, it does something to your brain. You know, you're like, 'Okay, I am a werewolf now!'" He also praised the special effects team for their remarkable work and attention to detail, noting that they even provided different teeth for him and his on-screen twin, Max Carver, to create distinct looks. The actors' insights offer a fascinating glimpse into the dedication and artistry behind bringing the supernatural world of "Teen Wolf" to life.
