Lima's New Jorge Chávez Airport Opens its Doors
The long-awaited Jorge Chávez International Airport in Lima, Peru, finally opened its doors on May 19, 2025. The event marked a significant milestone, as the airport's construction faced numerous delays and unfulfilled promises. Gonzalo Waisman, an Argentinian citizen, had the honor of being the first passenger to arrive at the new terminal. "It's impressive," Waisman stated, "It's immense, truly modern. It's like Europe." The airport, covering 900 hectares—an area comparable to the Miraflores district—features state-of-the-art facilities and a modern design. Cuarto Poder reporters were on-site to capture the opening and gather initial reactions from passengers and airport officials. The successful opening of the Jorge Chávez International Airport represents a significant step forward for Peru's infrastructure and tourism.
