Divers Discover Massive Underwater Cave System in Spain
Benitatxell, Spain – May 29, 2025 – A team of cave divers has made a remarkable discovery in the waters off Cala Moraig, a small cove in the municipality of Benitatxell, Spain. They have uncovered a vast, previously unexplored underwater cave system estimated to be over 3,000 meters long. Eliseo Belzunce, a leading expert in underwater cave exploration, led the team. "We've explored more than 2,000 meters of this incredible cave," Belzunce said, "but there's still more to discover." The exploration was challenging; the divers needed calm sea conditions and used special underwater propulsion systems to navigate the narrow passages. The team hopes to continue their exploration utilizing the increased water flow from spring rains. This discovery underscores the hidden wonders of the Mediterranean and the importance of continued exploration.
