First Loggerhead Turtle Nest of the Season Discovered in Dénia

Dénia, Spain, welcomes the first loggerhead sea turtle nest of the season. A nest containing 116 eggs was discovered on Marineta Cassiana beach late Saturday night. The discovery was made by a couple who were walking along the beach. "We were surprised to see the turtle," said one of the witnesses. Authorities quickly responded, carefully excavating the nest and moving 104 eggs to a protected beach and 12 eggs to the Oceanogràfic de València for controlled incubation. This collaborative effort ensures the survival of these endangered creatures. The event highlights the importance of community involvement in marine conservation.
