Interpol Red Notice Reissued for Former Ghanaian Finance Minister
Ghanaian Officials Reject Video Interview Offer from Former Finance Minister's Lawyers, Re-Issue Interpol Red Notice Ghana's Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has re-issued an Interpol red notice for Ken Ofori Atta, the former finance minister, after rejecting an offer from his lawyers for a video-recorded interview. The OSP cited Atta's failure to appear in person on June 2nd, 2025, despite prior notification of his intention to return between May 14th and 30th. The OSP spokesperson stated, "A suspect in a criminal investigation does not pick and choose how the investigative authority should conduct its investigations." The spokesperson further emphasized the OSP's insistence on Atta's physical presence for questioning and review of his biopsy report, rejecting the lawyers' explanation of his medical condition as insufficient. The OSP has initiated extradition proceedings.
