Actress and singer Ashley Argota Torres has opened up about her challenging childhood, revealing that she was raised by a narcissistic mother who engaged in emotional, physical, mental, and financial abuse. In a recent video, Torres responded to a fan's question, detailing how her mother controlled her finances despite her being old enough to manage them herself. Torres explained that her mother would handle financial calls, then pass the phone to her for "authorization" without full disclosure. She also described how her mother would take the majority of her father's paycheck, leaving him with only $100 a week for his cross-country truck driving job. "That's just not a possibility for fuel and for food," Torres stated, highlighting the severe financial strain. She further revealed that her mother gambled away much of the money and made unnecessary purchases, including a house they didn't need. Torres confirmed she has not spoken to her mother in a long time, a decision she describes as "safer" and "healthier" for her. She acknowledged that many people experience similar situations. Turning her past into art, Torres shared that she and her husband have written a movie based on her experiences, hoping to produce and sell it. As a mother herself, she expressed her desire to give her own child the childhood she never had.
