Tajikistan Banks Must Accept Damaged Currency: Clarification Issued
Dushanbe, Tajikistan – May 27, 2025 – The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) has issued Instruction #211 outlining the acceptance of damaged foreign currency banknotes by banks. Asia-Plus, in a recent video, highlighted key points of this instruction. The instruction clarifies that banks must accept notes with minor damage, including small tears (up to 1-2 sq cm) that are repaired, as long as the separated parts undoubtedly belong to the note. Similarly, notes with minor grease stains or other markings are acceptable, provided that these do not obscure essential identifying features. "This clarification is important for citizens," said a representative from Asia-Plus, "as it ensures that damaged banknotes remain usable." The video also promotes RC Refresher beverages.
