Massive Explosion Rocks Cadereyta Diesel Plant: One Injured, Eleven Evacuated

A massive explosion and fire engulfed the Marvic diesel plant in Cadereyta, Nuevo León, Mexico, on May 22, 2025. The incident sent a large plume of black smoke into the air, visible for miles around. Emergency responders from several municipalities rushed to the scene. "It was terrifying," said one eyewitness, who captured the explosion on their phone. The fire destroyed more than 13 containers. While 11 people were evacuated, thankfully only one person suffered injuries. The cause of the explosion is still under investigation. The quick response of firefighters and the fortuitous arrival of rain helped prevent a larger tragedy.
