Madrid, Spain – In a bid to enhance road safety awareness, Autoescuela Merinero, a driving school with 50 years of experience, recently released an informative video detailing the correct usage of seatbelts and airbags. The video, presented by an instructor, highlights common mistakes drivers make and explains the scientific principles behind these crucial safety devices. The instructor demonstrates how a properly fastened seatbelt, positioned across the hip bone and clavicle, utilizes a pretensioner system to tighten upon impact, significantly reducing the deceleration force on the body from 15 Gs to a more tolerable 1.5 Gs. This controlled deceleration minimizes internal injuries to organs like the brain, stomach, and heart. Furthermore, the video stresses the importance of maintaining adequate distance from the steering wheel, ideally 20-25 centimeters, to allow airbags to deploy safely. Airbags inflate at speeds of up to 300 km/h, and an improper seating position can lead to severe facial and dental injuries. The driving school emphasizes that adapting driving habits to modern vehicle safety features is paramount, asserting that seatbelts have saved more lives than penicillin. The initiative aims to educate the public on optimal safety practices to prevent injuries and save lives on the road.
