Panama's Natá Celebrates New Onion Drying Plant, Boosting Local Economy
In the town of Natá, located in the Coclé province of Panama, a significant step towards agricultural modernization has been achieved. A new onion drying plant, constructed with an investment of $2.5 million, is now operational. This project, a joint initiative of the Institute of Agri-business Marketing (IMA) and the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA), is expected to significantly impact the lives of hundreds of Panamanian onion farmers. The plant's advanced technology will improve the quality and shelf life of onions, enhancing their marketability and generating greater income for local producers. "This is a positive formula where the government of José Raúl Molina is reaching out to the people," stated Ing. Nilo Murillo Robles, Director of the IMA, emphasizing the government's commitment to supporting the agricultural sector. Sixto Cedeño Aguirre, an onion farmer from Natá, expressed his satisfaction, highlighting the immediate response from the authorities to address farmers' concerns. The opening of this plant marks a significant step towards a more sustainable and prosperous future for Panama's agricultural community.
