Gomel Park Transformed: Volunteers Paint Benches, Boost Community Spirit
Gomel's Festivalny Park Gets a Colorful Makeover Thanks to Volunteers Gomel, Belarus – In a heartwarming display of community spirit, volunteers recently revitalized the unique benches in Gomel's Festivalny Park. The initiative, spearheaded by the local branch of the Belarusian political party "Belaya Rus," saw approximately 100 people participate in a park beautification project. The volunteers used nearly 80 kilograms of paint to refresh the park's distinctive benches, ensuring the park's unique character was maintained. "We wanted to refresh the look of the benches without drastically changing their design," explained Elena Gerashchenko, the chair of the party's regional branch and the project's leader. "The color palette was carefully chosen to achieve this." The project also included repainting benches near the amphitheater and rope playground, areas slated for future development. One participant, a young volunteer, shared, "It's great to contribute to our community. It feels good to make our park even better." The project not only improved the park's aesthetics but also fostered a sense of community involvement. Festivalny Park is set for further improvements this year, with plans for a new youth area and an open-air cinema. This initiative demonstrates the positive impact of community engagement and collaboration in enhancing public spaces.
