One gardener shared their best trick for strawberry propagation so you can have an endless supply of strawberries.
A simple yet effective gardening technique promises an endless supply of fresh strawberries for home growers. Lyndsay, a holistic nutritionist and gardening enthusiast, recently shared her "infinite strawberry plant hack," demonstrating how to easily propagate new plants from existing ones. The method involves identifying a "runner" – a horizontal stem that grows from the main strawberry plant. Once a runner is found, it should be gently placed into soil, either in the same pot or a new container, and allowed to root for approximately three weeks. After sufficient rooting, the runner can be snipped from the parent plant, becoming a new, independent strawberry plant. According to Lyndsay, this technique not only yields more strawberry plants but also benefits the original plant by preventing it from expending too much energy on the runners, thus maintaining its fruit production. "You don't want it to be sucking all of the energy from the main plant," she explained in her video. This allows gardeners to enjoy fresh strawberries throughout the entire season, effectively creating a continuous harvest.
