Malaysia Launches National Women's Checkup Week 2025 Campaign Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – The Malaysian government launched the "National Women's Checkup Week 2025" campaign, emphasizing the importance of early cervical cancer detection through self-administered HPV testing. The campaign, which ran from May 23-25, 2025, aims to empower women to take control of their reproductive health. The initiative is supported by various organizations and health professionals. Dr. Teo Ik Hui, an obstetrician and gynecology expert from Universiti Putra Malaysia, highlighted the ease and accuracy of self-testing. "Patients can easily do it themselves at home," Dr. Hui stated. "The results are more accurate compared to other methods." Dr. Beatrice Jee Ngee Ling, a family medicine expert and FMSa member, added that while HPV testing is a simple and effective preventative measure, reaching women in rural areas remains a challenge. The campaign's goal is to increase awareness and access to HPV testing, contributing to the national objective of reducing cervical cancer rates by 2030. The involvement of numerous organizations and medical professionals underscores the commitment to women's health in Malaysia.
