Kedah Water Plant Ahead of Schedule, Pulau Pinang Food Courts Face Cleanliness Scrutiny
Kedah Water Plant Nears Completion, While Pulau Pinang Food Court Cleanliness Remains a Concern Construction of the Lubuk Pelabuhan water treatment plant in Kedah, Malaysia, is progressing rapidly, with officials expecting completion by the end of 2025. This project will significantly improve water access for residents in Kubang Pasu and Alor Setar. "The structure is almost complete, only awaiting mechanical and electrical work," stated Raja Shahrir, Executive Director of the Bandar Darul Aman Development Group. This project, covering 206.32 acres, is 43 days ahead of schedule. Meanwhile, in Pulau Pinang, RTM News observed cleanliness issues at several food courts. While many vendors maintain high standards, some struggle. Arshad Jamaluddin, a food vendor, commented, "We keep our food preparation area clean so our food is clean." However, the report also showed areas needing improvement. The Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang closed one food court for 14 days due to hygiene violations, highlighting the ongoing challenge of maintaining cleanliness standards.
