Two More Malaysian Hajj Pilgrims Die in Mecca, Raising Death Toll to Seven MECCA, Saudi Arabia – Two more Malaysian pilgrims have died during the Hajj pilgrimage, bringing the total number of fatalities for Malaysian pilgrims to seven. The news was confirmed by Datuk Dr. Mohammad Na'im Mokhtar, Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs). "The sixth death involved a woman from Terengganu, Siti Hawar Ibrahim, 64, who passed away at 9:32 PM last night at King Abdullah Hospital due to a heart attack," said Dr. Mokhtar. The seventh death was identified as Abdul Halim Awang, 76, from Alor Star, Kedah. He died due to a bacterial infection and organ failure. Dr. Mokhtar confirmed that the Tabung Haji (Hajj Fund) has contacted both families and will fully manage all the funeral arrangements. The deaths cast a shadow over the pilgrimage, but the overall mood remains one of devotion and prayer.
