Malaysia Mourns UPSI Students; Officials Pledge Road Safety Improvements Malaysia is mourning the loss of several University Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) students killed in a recent tragic road accident. Five of the victims were laid to rest in their hometowns in Terengganu on June 10, 2025, with hundreds of mourners in attendance. The Sultan of Perak, Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah, expressed his condolences and called for swift action to improve road safety. "We must learn from this tragedy," he stated, "and implement the necessary preventative measures immediately." Meanwhile, the government is providing financial aid to the families of the victims. The Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, emphasized the need for proactive measures to ensure road safety. He also highlighted the importance of driver awareness and responsible driving habits. "The safety of our citizens is paramount," he said. "We must work together to create a safer road environment for everyone." Adding to the day's events, the President of Poland arrived in Malaysia for a three-day official visit, underscoring the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries. This visit coincides with Malaysia's chairmanship of ASEAN in 2025.
