Malaysia Invests RM53.1 Million in Part-Time Media Welfare

Malaysia Allocates RM53.1 Million for Part-Time Media Welfare KUALA LUMPUR, MALAYSIA – June 14, 2025 – The Malaysian government has announced a significant allocation of RM53.1 million (approximately US$11.9 million) to bolster the welfare of part-time media practitioners. This substantial investment aims to improve the lives of those working in the media sector, particularly after their retirement. The announcement was made by Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil, who stated, "From this amount, more than RM370,000 will be used for the continuation of the Social Security Scheme (SKSPS) and KWSP contributions." This highlights the government's commitment to supporting individuals who contribute to the country's media landscape. The allocation will specifically benefit part-time media workers through two key initiatives: continuation of the Social Security Scheme and contributions to the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP). This initiative aims to provide a safety net and financial security for these individuals, ensuring their well-being beyond their active careers. The program's expansion also includes private education institutions. This initiative underscores the government's recognition of the vital role played by part-time media workers and its commitment to ensuring their financial security. The allocation represents a significant step toward enhancing the well-being of these individuals and their families.
