Smart Packing: The Art of Unpacking Before You Arrive Home
Smart Packing: The Art of Unpacking Before You Arrive Home Travelers often focus on efficient packing for departure, but the return journey's unpacking can be a daunting task. Lifestyle personality Bethenny Frankel recently shared her "elite pack hack" designed to streamline the post-trip unpacking process, transforming it into a seamless experience. Frankel emphasizes a strategic approach: packing items not by how they fit into the suitcase, but by where they will ultimately be stored in one's home. "People are always focusing on how they pack to go somewhere, but no one ever focuses on how you pack to come home, which is more important," Frankel stated in her video. She highlighted that arriving home exhausted makes an organized suitcase crucial to avoid leaving it unpacked for weeks. Her method involves categorizing belongings into specific pouches and sections within the luggage. For instance, long dresses and cover-ups are grouped, international snacks are kept together, and makeup brushes are cleaned and stored in a dedicated pouch. Similarly, beach totes, jewelry, sunglasses, hats, underwear, socks, and even wet bathing suits (in a designated laundry bag) are neatly compartmentalized. This ensures that upon arrival, each pouch can be directly placed into its corresponding drawer, closet section, or laundry bin, minimizing effort. Frankel also praised a lightweight, sizable Amazon suitcase she reviewed, noting its quality and suitability for this organized packing style. This system aims to eliminate the post-travel clutter and fatigue, making the transition back home smoother and more efficient.
