Controlling glucose spikes is a crucial strategy for reducing food anxiety and promoting fat loss, according to nutritionist blancanutri. In a recent video, she highlighted how common breakfast habits can inadvertently lead to constant hunger and weight gain. "One of the most important tricks to reduce food anxiety and lose fat is to control glucose spikes that can occur when we eat," blancanutri explained. She noted that sweet breakfasts lacking protein, such as bread with jam or sugary cereals, are often culprits. These types of meals cause rapid increases in blood glucose, leading to subsequent crashes that trigger cravings, irritability, fatigue, and difficulty concentrating. "This causes glucose to become unbalanced, making us constantly hungry throughout the day, every hour or hour and a half," she stated. When glucose levels spike, the body releases insulin, which stores the excess glucose as fat. This process also increases ghrelin, the hormone that regulates appetite. Consequently, the more weight or fat gained, the more hunger is experienced. To counteract this, blancanutri advises incorporating sufficient protein into meals, especially breakfast. "Don't forget to include enough protein in your meals, especially breakfast," she urged. She suggested that if you eat and don't feel hungry for three or four hours afterward, you are likely doing it correctly, indicating stable blood sugar levels and better appetite control.
