La OTAN firma un incremento del 5% en el gasto en Defensa en diez años
El presidente del Gobierno Pedro Sánchez asegura que este año se llegará al 2% del gasto.
The Hague, Netherlands – Spanish Prime Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez addressed the media today at the NATO summit in The Hague, clarifying the origin of the 2.1% defense spending target for Spain's Gross Domestic Product (GDP). During his remarks, Sánchez stated, "When they say that I was the one who said 2.1%, it wasn't me, it's the Armed Forces, it's the Ministry of Defense. It wasn't me, quite the opposite." He emphasized that the proposed figure stems from assessments made by Spain's military and defense ministry. Sánchez further elaborated that these defense capabilities, which have been agreed upon by Spain and other member states within the Atlantic Alliance, can be met with the 2.1% GDP allocation. His statement aimed to underscore that the target is a strategic assessment by defense institutions rather than a personal decision.
