Houston Rescue's 'Mutt-ernity Suites' Save Hundreds of Dogs
Houston Animal Rescue's Mutt-ernity Suites Offer Hope Amidst Crisis Houston, TX – In a city grappling with a severe stray animal problem, a local animal rescue is pioneering a unique solution. Three Little Pitties Rescue has established "Mutt-ernity Suites," a safe haven for pregnant stray dogs to give birth. These suites, renovated with the help of Tito's Handmade Vodka's philanthropy branch, offer a clean, safe environment, significantly improving the survival chances of both mothers and their pups. "Matilda would have had a completely different future if she weren't here," explains Alayna Matranga Goodson, executive director of Three Little Pitties Rescue. "She may have given birth at an overcrowded shelter, and her puppies may not have made it." The video shows the stark contrast between the safe suites and the harsh realities faced by stray dogs on the streets of Houston. The initiative has already yielded impressive results, with over 150 dogs adopted out in just six months. Beth Bellanti, who leads Tito's Handmade Vodka's philanthropy branch, emphasizes the importance of this project. "To arrive here a week ago in the morning, where Matilda had gone into labor, and then we moved her and were able to check on her and kind of experience that and comfort her all day while we were working on her room...that's priceless." The rescue's work offers a beacon of hope in the face of a challenging situation, underscoring the importance of community support in animal welfare.
