Denver Basking in Unexpected Summer Heat; Rain on the Way
Denver Sizzles with Summer-Like Heat; Pattern Shift Expected Mid-Week Denver, CO (May 12, 2025) — Denver experienced unusually warm weather today, with temperatures reaching 87 degrees Fahrenheit. This near-record high prompted CBS News Colorado to issue a short weather report. Alex LehnertWX, a meteorologist with CBS News Colorado, reported that areas north of Denver and near Pueblo could see temperatures in the 90s. "We're quite close to that record," LehnertWX said, referring to the airport's record high of 90 degrees. Meanwhile, mountain areas will experience milder temperatures in the 70s and 60s. However, this summer-like heat is short-lived. A pattern shift is expected by mid-week, bringing cooler temperatures and rain chances to the region by Wednesday and Thursday. LehnertWX noted, "If you are loving this summer-like heat, you have a couple more days to enjoy it." The cooler weather and rain are expected to primarily affect the northern parts of the state. The unexpected warmth provided a brief respite from typical spring weather in Denver, but residents can look forward to a return to more seasonal temperatures soon.
