Mother's Love Conquers Mountains: Dominican Woman's Legacy of Values
High in the Northern Cordillera mountains of the Dominican Republic, in the rural community of El Aguacate, lives María Guadalupe Sosa, affectionately known as Pita. This remarkable woman raised ten children, instilling in them strong values and a commitment to education, despite facing significant challenges. "There were no roads, no easy paths," Pita recalls, describing how her children had to work hard to get an education. Her son, Elvis Bautista, a priest, testifies to her profound influence: "She taught me to love God, my family, and my neighbor." Pita's dedication resulted in a family of professionals, including doctors, nurses, and priests, a testament to her enduring legacy. Her story is a powerful reminder of the importance of strong family values and the transformative power of education.
