Dominican Journalist Sues for Defamation, Seeks RD$10 Million

Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – Journalist Vargavila Riverón has initiated legal proceedings against fellow communicator Ángel Martínez, filing a formal complaint for defamation and libel at the National District Courthouse. According to Riverón's lawyer, Rafael Helena Regalado, Martínez's statements linked Riverón to drug trafficking and severely damaged his professional reputation. "These accusations are entirely false and have caused significant harm to Mr. Riverón's career," stated Regalado. Riverón is seeking RD$10 million in damages.
