Dominican Republic Metro Construction: Opret Addresses Structural Safety Concerns
Dominican Republic's Los Alcarrizos Metro Construction: Opret Dismisses Structural Concerns Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic – The Office for Transport Reordering (Opret) has issued a statement assuring the public of the structural integrity of the Los Alcarrizos Metro currently under construction. Opret officials dismissed recent concerns regarding potential structural flaws, emphasizing that the project adheres to the highest international quality standards. "The quality of Line 2C is assured," stated José Adolfo Herrera, an engineer with Opret, in a recent interview. Herrera detailed the extensive safety measures implemented, including the use of deep pilings and reinforced steel. He also highlighted the experience of the construction team, many of whom also worked on the Santo Domingo Metro's Line 1. The Los Alcarrizos Metro, a significant infrastructure project costing RD$36,500,000,000, commenced in 2022 and is scheduled for completion in February 2026. While acknowledging construction delays, Opret attributes these to land acquisition challenges, not structural issues. The project's completion will significantly improve transportation in the Los Alcarrizos area. Opret's commitment to transparency and its efforts to address concerns about the project underscore its dedication to delivering a safe and efficient metro system for the people of the Dominican Republic.
