Kasoa Decongestion Underway: Traders Moved to Restore Order and Safety in Central Business District Kasoa, Ghana – The Awutu Senya East Municipal Assembly launched a major decongestion operation in Kasoa’s Central Business District on May 26, 2025. The initiative aims to clear traders from pedestrian walkways and roadways to enhance safety and restore order. Municipal Chief Executive Seth Sabah Serwonoo-Banini stated that the move is crucial for protecting pedestrians and maintaining a functional business environment. "The decongestion exercise is essential for the safety of pedestrians and the smooth flow of traffic," said Mr. Serwonoo-Banini. "We are committed to working with traders to find suitable alternative locations while ensuring the enforcement of existing regulations." A joint task force, comprising personnel from the police, immigration, fire service, and the assembly itself, will be deployed for 24/7 patrols to maintain the cleared areas. The assembly plans to engage with traders through dialogue and public education to ensure long-term compliance. While acknowledging the need for enforcement, the MCE emphasized the importance of dialogue and engagement with the affected traders. The operation marks a significant step towards improving the infrastructure and safety of Kasoa’s central business area.
