Moldovan Public Service Agency Employees Investigated in Vintage Vehicle Fraud Scheme Chisinau, Moldova – A major investigation is underway into a suspected fraud scheme involving employees of the Public Service Agency (ASP) in Moldova. The Service for the Prevention and Combating of Money Laundering (SPIA) and the Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases (PCCOCS) have launched a probe into the alleged fraudulent legalization of vintage vehicles. According to the SPIA, several ASP employees, including a manager, are suspected of colluding with beneficiaries of numerous vintage motorcycles and cars. These individuals are alleged to have used falsified official documents to alter ownership records and technical specifications, potentially for financial gain. The estimated value of these vehicles is considerably higher outside Moldova, making this a significant financial crime. "Employees are suspected of acting in complicity with beneficiaries of several motorcycles and automobiles of old models and brands, which can be attributed to antiques or used for exhibition purposes, both in the territory of the Republic of Moldova and abroad," stated a SPIA press release. Raids conducted on May 20, 2025, at the homes and offices of the implicated employees yielded crucial evidence. Furthermore, six restored vintage motorcycles were discovered in the basement of one residence, prepared for storage. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to determine the true number of vehicles involved in the fraudulent scheme. The ASP has pledged its full cooperation in uncovering the extent of this alleged fraud.
